Raipur witnessed the presence of Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai at the Ambujamall cinema for a screening of the Chhattisgarhi film “Martyr King Guru Balkadas.” Also in attendance were key figures including Assembly Speaker Dr. Raman Singh, Cabinet Minister Guru Khushwant Saheb, and numerous other officials and community members. The Chief Minister described the film as a remarkable portrayal of courage and heroism. He recounted how Guru Balkadas confronted the British and Pindaris who were causing suffering and famine among farmers. Beyond the struggle, Guru Balkadas worked tirelessly to unify society and promote education and social harmony. He also actively opposed the oppressive policies of the British, playing a vital part in the fight for independence.
The Chief Minister declared that the film “Martyr King Guru Balkadas” would be tax-free throughout Chhattisgarh, allowing a wider audience access to this inspirational tale and enabling them to connect with their history and cultural heritage.
He emphasized that Chhattisgarh has always been a land of martyrs and saints, underscoring the importance of understanding the history of the state’s freedom fighters. The film highlights Chhattisgarh’s role in the freedom struggle, its rich culture, social harmony, the fight against the British, and the simplicity of life.
Chief Minister Sai praised the talent of the Chhattisgarhi film industry, acknowledging the hard work and dedication of the artists, directors, and crew. He noted that Chhattisgarhi cinema is succeeding because of their efforts. The government’s plan to build a film city will improve infrastructure, generate more opportunities, and provide a platform for national recognition for Chhattisgarhi cinema, thereby promoting local talents and enhancing the cultural identity of the state.
