The Chhattisgarh government has made adjustments to the half-electricity bill scheme’s subsidy limits. The change involves offering a 50% discount on monthly consumption up to 100 units, instead of the earlier provision of a subsidy for 400 units. The government noted that approximately 31 lakh families (about 70%) out of the 45 lakh domestic consumers in the state consume less than 100 units each month. The government has stated that these 31 lakh families, who are considered needy, and include those from the general and vulnerable categories, will still benefit from the scheme. Nearly 70% of the state’s household consumers will continue to receive the benefits. The state government is committed to helping poor families with their electricity costs.
