The Excise Department in Chhattisgarh will soon implement a cashless system across all liquor stores to boost online payments. This will enable customers to purchase liquor using online payment methods. Excise Minister Shri Lakhanlal Dewangan announced this at a recent review meeting, stating that online payments in liquor shops should be encouraged. He mandated that all transactions in these stores be conducted online.
Minister Dewangan also directed the installation of CCTV cameras in liquor shops to enable 24/7 monitoring from the headquarters, as per the Chief Minister’s directives. He further ordered strict measures against the illegal activities of production, storage, transportation, and sale of liquor and narcotics. He also highlighted the importance of enhancing vigilance at excise check posts located at inter-state borders and conducting special enforcement drives.
During the meeting, Minister Dewangan also addressed the issue of illegal alcohol sales and consumption in hotels, dhabas, and farmhouses. He discussed various aspects of liquor shop management, including licensing, marketing corporation operations, and bar-club activities. He instructed officials to take action against parties at farmhouses where liquor is served.
A detailed presentation of the work plans to achieve revenue targets was provided. Smt. R. Sangeeta, Secretary of the Commercial Tax Excise Department, presented a detailed overview of departmental activities. The meeting was attended by senior officials from the Excise Department, along with representatives from the Chhattisgarh State Marketing Corporation Limited and Chhattisgarh State Beverages Corporation.
