Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai is spearheading an initiative to encourage the installation of solar power plants, aligning with the Pradhan Mantri Suryaghar Muft Bijli Yojana. This program aims to promote pollution-free energy in Chhattisgarh by encouraging the adoption of solar power at the household level. The scheme intends to boost self-reliance in electricity and lower monthly bills, with subsidies available for rooftop solar power plants.
Under the plan, the central and state governments will provide subsidies ranging from ₹45,000 to ₹1,08,000 for rooftop solar power plants, dependent on the plant’s capacity from one to three kilowatts. The Chief Engineer of Chhattisgarh State Power Distribution Company Limited has urged all regular officers and employees to install these plants in their homes.
The program extends to those residing in board quarters, rental properties, and multi-story buildings, permitting them to install plants on their properties in their hometowns or via virtual net metering. The subsidy remains consistent across all eligible installations. Officers/employees can secure loans with a 6% interest rate over 10 years, with EMIs lower than their current monthly electricity bills. Those interested are urged to install plants within three months. Further details can be found on the PM Suryaghar Muft Bijli Yojana online portal.
