In a major development in Chhattisgarh, 71 Naxals, including high-ranking individuals with rewards totaling 64 lakhs, have surrendered to authorities in Dantewada. The surrender took place before Superintendent of Police Gaurav Roy and CRPF officials.
The surrenders are a result of the ongoing operations conducted by the security forces, combined with the government’s rehabilitation programs like Loan Varraatu. These efforts have created an environment where Naxals are choosing to renounce violence and return to the mainstream.
The surrendered Naxals, who were involved in multiple incidents, will now be provided with skill development training and essential items as part of their rehabilitation.
Among the 71 who surrendered were 21 women. Authorities credit the ‘Rehabilitation to Rebirth’ campaign, along with the Loan Varraatu initiative, for influencing the Naxals to give up arms. This action is seen as a major setback for the Naxal movement in the region.
