Entry Guidelines for BSc Nursing and GNM Revamped in Chhattisgarh

The Chhattisgarh education department released a notification on 7 August 2026 that overhauls the admission route for two major nursing streams.

A competitive entrance test is now mandatory for BSc Nursing candidates. Performance in this test will directly influence seat distribution across both government and private colleges. Meanwhile, the GNM diploma will no longer require a separate test; instead, a merit list based on 12th‑grade scores will determine eligibility.

The minimum age criterion is set at 17 years, and any applicant below this threshold will be ineligible. Private nursing colleges must allocate 40 % of their capacity to the government quota, leaving 60 % for management‑quota seats. Government‑run institutions will set aside 20 % of seats for current government employees.

The entire admission journey – from filing the online application to participating in the digital counselling session – will be conducted through a dedicated portal, making the process fully paper‑less and accessible across the state.
