The ongoing monsoon season continues to bring devastation to Chhattisgarh, with significant flooding reported in several areas. A heartbreaking incident unfolded in Bilaspur, where a family was caught in a flooded stream. Three children have died as a result, while one family member is still missing. The incident occurred near the Belgahana Chowki area. The family was returning after paying respects at the Marhi Mata shrine. The heavy rainfall led to the stream’s overflowing. While crossing, the children were caught in the powerful current and swept away. Rescue teams were immediately dispatched to the site to conduct search and rescue operations. The bodies of the three children were handed over to the police and sent for a post-mortem. The family and extended relatives are in a state of profound grief. Over the past day, the Sarguja, Bastar, and Bilaspur divisions, along with parts of Raipur and Durg divisions, have experienced light to moderate rainfall. The rescue operations were temporarily suspended during the night due to inclement weather and poor visibility, but resumed with the rising sun.
