Raipur October 19/ After providing domestic LPG connections to more than 10.33 crore economically weaker women under the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana, the Government of India, Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas, is once again giving a gift to the public before Diwali by starting the process to provide 25 lakh new Ujjwala gas connections under PMUY. Chhattisgarh has been given a target to provide 2 lakh 23 thousand new domestic LPG connections. Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai expressed his gratitude to Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi for providing new connections under this scheme.
As per the instructions of Chief Minister Shri Sai, detailed guidelines have been issued by the Food Civil Supplies and Consumer Protection Department of the Chhattisgarh government for new Ujjwala gas connections.
New connections will be provided to beneficiaries within 15 days
As per the detailed guidelines issued by the department, a District Ujjwala Committee will be constituted in all districts under the chairmanship of the District Collector. This committee will regularly monitor the implementation of the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana in the district and the timely resolution of received applications. Applications for new gas connections from eligible families under the scheme will be received within the next 07 days. Gas agencies in the district will test and verify the received applications and take action to issue new gas connections within 15 days.
Beneficiaries under Niyad Nellanaar Yojana will be given priority
In the districts of Bijapur, Sukma, Narayanpur, Kanker, and Dantewada, which come under the Niyad Nellanaar Yojana, beneficiaries will be identified first, and these villages will be given special priority, with 100% identified beneficiaries receiving Ujjwala gas scheme connections. To ensure that eligible beneficiaries receive the benefits of the scheme, special camps will be organized in coordination with oil companies by selecting areas with good network connectivity. Applications from the remaining 34 thousand 425 families for obtaining gas connections under the scheme will be collected through special camps organized in the identified villages. For e-KYC of applications received from remote and inaccessible areas, special camps will be organized in areas with connectivity to benefit them.
Collectors will be the chairpersons of the District Level Ujjwala Committee
At least 05 percent of the applications received under the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana will be verified and tested by the District Ujjwala Committee. For this, a meeting of all gas agencies in the district has been called, and instructions have been given to provide information for issuing new gas connections under the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana. The District Level Ujjwala Committee will have the District Collector or a senior officer authorized by him as the chairperson, and the District Nodal Officer from the oil marketing company will be the coordinator member. Two members will be officers from two other oil marketing companies. The District Food and Civil Supplies Officer and two non-official members will also be members of the committee.
Criteria released for new connections under the scheme
Eligibility criteria have been set for new gas connections under PMUY. According to this, families where any member earns more than 10 thousand rupees per month, any family member is a government employee, or families with registered non-agricultural enterprises with the government are not included. Similarly, farmers with a Kisan Credit Card limit of more than 50 thousand rupees, owners of more than 2.5 acres of irrigated land with irrigation equipment, owners of 5 acres or more of irrigated land for two or more crop seasons, owners of at least 7.5 acres or more of land with at least one irrigation device, owners of houses with a carpet area of more than 30 square meters, owners of self-propelled three or four-wheeler vehicles or fishing boats or mechanized three or four-wheeler agricultural equipment, and families who already have an LPG connection will be ineligible to receive benefits under the scheme.
