Angnesh Minj, the headmistress of Jamjunnani Primary School, was the victim of an online fraud, losing ₹2.65 lakh. The scam occurred when she transferred money over two days. The principal received a call from an unknown number; the caller asked if she used PhonePe. She confirmed this, and then they asked for her account balance. She reported having about ₹3 lakh. The scammer offered to give her ₹3.18 lakh if she sent them ₹3 lakh. Falling for the scam, the principal transferred a total of ₹2.65 lakh from her own and her PhonePe accounts to the account given by the scammer. When the money was not returned, she understood that she had been tricked and filed a complaint at the Pathalgaon police station. Police have commenced an investigation based on her report.
