A shocking bomb blast near Delhi’s Red Fort on Sunday evening has left the capital reeling from the loss of at least eight lives and numerous injuries. The sudden explosion, accompanied by a blinding flash and intense flames, instantly transformed the area into a scene of chaos. Eyewitnesses described the terrifying moments as the blast ripped through the street, causing vehicles to swerve and people to scatter in fear.
One bystander recounted the harrowing sight of a delivery person being consumed by flames and burnt alive following the explosion. The sheer force of the blast damaged surrounding cars, amplifying the sense of terror and prompting fears of an organized attack.
According to police, the explosion originated from a white Hyundai i20. The car was reportedly slowing down at a Red Fort traffic intersection when the blast occurred. Forensic examination of the site yielded critical clues, including fragments of the vehicle and its registration details, which led authorities to Gurugram. The car was registered to Mohammad Salman.
Salman confirmed to investigators that he had sold the car about a year and a half ago to a Devendra, a Delhi resident, and presented sale documents. The trail continued to Ambala, Haryana, where the car was allegedly sold to a Nadeem. Authorities have enlisted the help of Ambala police to locate Nadeem and conduct thorough background checks.
Investigators suspect a deliberate effort to conceal the car’s movements through multiple ownership changes. The possibility of the vehicle being part of a larger terror network spanning different states is also under investigation. Experts are working to identify the explosive composition used in the improvised device. The ongoing investigation aims to uncover the full story behind this devastating car bomb incident.
