In the wake of Sonam Raghuvanshi’s surrender in Uttar Pradesh’s Ghazipur, her brother, Govind, described his emotional response to her call after not hearing from her for over two weeks. She was located near a dhaba on the Varanasi-Ghazipur main road and was subsequently taken to Sadar Hospital for initial treatment, followed by a transfer to the Sakhi One Stop Centre. Meghalaya Deputy Chief Minister Prestone Tynsong had previously stated that while others were apprehended in a late-night operation, Sonam had surrendered.
Govind chose not to delve into the specifics of his sister’s arrest. However, he did provide insight into her condition when they spoke. He mentioned that he notified the police after the call, and Sonam was safely escorted by law enforcement. Govind explained, “When she called me, I got emotional, and later informed the police. Until I meet her (Sonam), I cannot say anything. For the last 72 hours, I have been awake. It’s been 20 days since I met her.”
