An urgent situation developed in Ahmedabad’s Ambavadi area when a water tank at a residential society collapsed. Over ten individuals were trapped as a result, necessitating a rapid rescue operation. The incident occurred near Azad Nagar Society, with security forces and local authorities quickly responding. The collapse involved two water tanks, with a combined capacity of 2,000 liters, situated on the third floor of apartments near Azad Nagar Society. The event occurred after heavy rain on Sunday. Despite the structural failure, no fatalities were reported, with the area unoccupied at the time. Rescue teams employed ladders to safely extract the trapped individuals. An elderly woman was injured and received prompt medical care. All trapped individuals are now safe, and the situation is under control. The Municipal Corporation’s Estate Department will soon release a report to determine the next steps, including potential repairs or demolition. As damage and safety risks are assessed, residents of Birju Apartments have been temporarily relocated. The incident has raised concerns about the safety of people residing in apartments.
