A woman in Muzaffarpur, Bihar, has reported a bizarre demand from her in-laws: her kidney as dowry. Deepti, the complainant, detailed the harassment she endured since her marriage in 2021. Initially, the demands were for money and material possessions, but the situation turned extreme when her in-laws pressured her to donate a kidney to her husband, who was suffering from a kidney ailment. The woman is now staying with her parents. A case has been registered at the Mahila Thana against the husband and three other family members, and police attempts to mediate a resolution have been unsuccessful. The woman has sought a divorce, but her husband has refused.
