Vikas Mitras in Bihar are set to receive accident insurance benefits, similar to those enjoyed by government employees, thanks to a new initiative by the Bihar Mahadalit Vikas Mission. The announcement was made at a function held in Patna, chaired by Janak Ram, the Minister for Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes Welfare.
The event focused on a special corporate package designed to provide comprehensive financial services and benefits to Vikas Mitras, including insurance, health coverage, group life insurance, and financial aid for their children’s education and marriages. Representatives from the State Bank of India (SBI) and Punjab National Bank (PNB) were present, and the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Bihar Mahadalit Vikas Mission and the two banks was a key moment.
The ceremony was attended by senior officials from the state government, including the Secretary and Mission Director of the Bihar Mahadalit Vikas Mission, as well as regional and district welfare officers and the Vikas Mitras themselves.
Minister Janak Ram praised the initiative as a significant step towards the social and economic security of the Vikas Mitras. He also acknowledged the support of Chief Minister Nitish Kumar in prioritizing the welfare of Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes communities. He emphasized that Vikas Mitras are crucial to the government’s efforts to reach these communities.
A directive has been issued to conduct enrollment camps on September 27th in each block to facilitate the inclusion of all Vikas Mitras in this new package. The Mission Director concluded the event by expressing gratitude to all participants, emphasizing the importance of the initiative for the empowerment of the Scheduled Castes and Tribes community.
