In anticipation of the upcoming Diwali and Chhath festivals, the Indian Railways is preparing to launch the first Vande Bharat Sleeper Express train. The train is anticipated to begin operating from Delhi to Patna by the end of September, offering a new travel solution for passengers before the holidays. Further expansion of the route to Darbhanga or Sitamarhi is also being considered to facilitate travel for passengers in North Bihar. This new train aims to be a boon for the large number of passengers traveling from Delhi to Bihar during Diwali and Chhath, when train travel can be challenging. The Vande Bharat Sleeper train is designed to provide a more comfortable and efficient travel experience. The train will operate at speeds up to 160 kilometers per hour, and the inclusion of driver cabs at both ends will eliminate the need for engine changes at stations, saving valuable time. The train will feature state-of-the-art safety and comfort measures, including the Kavach anti-collision system, a crashworthy coach design, and advanced fire safety systems. CCTV cameras will be installed throughout the train for continuous security monitoring. The train’s interior will boast modern design elements such as glass fiber panels, soft lighting, and comfortable berths. The upper berths will feature an updated design to ease access, and the train will incorporate automatic sensor doors and touch-free bio-digester toilets. The Ministry of Railways views the introduction of the Vande Bharat Sleeper trains as a key element in modernizing India’s railway system, aiming to make long-distance travel faster, safer, and more comfortable, particularly during times of high passenger volume like the festive season.
