Tejashwi Yadav, a key figure in the RJD, has launched a strong attack against the Bihar government, accusing it of being a ‘double-engine’ administration with one component involved in crime and the other in corruption. Speaking after a coordination committee meeting of the India alliance, Yadav said that significant discussions took place. He criticized the current state of affairs in the government and announced that the Mahagathbandhan will be organizing public engagements and rallies in the near future. These will focus on the rights of the people of Bihar, as well as addressing issues related to voter registration. Rahul Gandhi is expected to join in these public interactions. Yadav underscored Bihar’s poor performance in critical sectors such as education, healthcare, and irrigation, juxtaposing it with the high rates of migration, poverty, and unemployment in the state. He also commented on the CAG report, alleging an Rs 80,000 crore scam and criticizing the government for not providing a proper explanation. He pointed out that large-scale corruption often occurs under BJP rule. The Bihar Assembly elections are slated to be held later this year, with the current Assembly’s term expiring on November 22, 2025. The Election Commission is yet to release the election dates, but they are anticipated to be in October or November 2025, potentially in multiple phases. The first phase of the SIR has already been completed, revealing that Bihar has 7.24 crore voters. The draft will be published on August 1, 2025, while the final list will be released on September 30, 2025.
