Former Bihar Deputy Chief Minister and RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav was involved in a near-accident on Saturday morning when a truck hit a portion of his convoy near Goraul in Vaishali district. The incident occurred while he was en route to Patna after concluding a political rally in Madhepura.
According to reports, the convoy had paused for a break on the Patna-Muzaffarpur highway around 12:30 AM. Yadav was a short distance away, having tea, when the truck slammed into the parked vehicles of his security personnel. His personal vehicle was not involved in the collision, and he was not injured.
Three of his security officials sustained injuries in the crash and were immediately taken to a local hospital. Tejashwi Yadav later visited the injured officials and inquired about their well-being. The injured are now in stable condition.
The truck driver was apprehended by local police at the scene of the accident, and the truck was taken into custody. An investigation is underway to determine the cause of the accident, including potential factors such as speeding or driver fatigue.
The incident has raised concerns about the safety of political leaders during nighttime travel on Bihar roads. RJD members took to social media to express relief and call for increased road safety measures. Party officials have called for a review of security protocols.
Tejashwi Yadav has resumed his regular activities and assured his followers that he is safe and unaffected by the incident.
