With the Bihar elections fast approaching, the political scene is charged with competing claims and forecasts. Prashant Kishor, the guiding force behind the Jan Suraaj Party, has declared that his party is committed to overhauling Bihar’s political landscape, regardless of whether it is achieved through direct participation in the government or after a lengthy period of persistent effort. During a press conference held on Thursday, Prashant Kishor made several predictions related to the upcoming elections. He presented a ‘do or die’ scenario for Jan Suraaj, where success meant either a limited number of seats, requiring another five to six years of struggle, or a substantial victory, enabling them to change the system of governance in Bihar. Kishor affirmed that changes to the governance of Bihar are inevitable.
Kishor targeted Bihar’s Chief Minister, Nitish Kumar, indicating that the political reality of the state would be significantly different after the November election results. Kishor stated that Nitish Kumar would not remain as the Chief Minister post-election. Regardless of who takes the position of Chief Minister, the change in Bihar’s governance will be ongoing.
Kishor emphasized the need for a system where the public’s priorities come first, suggesting that genuine change in Bihar hinges on the rule of the people, not just the political leaders. He encouraged people to cast their votes after considering important issues like employment and education for children.
Kishor criticized the NDA and INDIA alliances, noting that the BJP had previously placed them within the INDIA alliance during their padayatra, but now links them with the NDA. He suggests that this illustrates the concern within both alliances about the growing influence of the Jan Suraaj Party.
