Former MLA Rajballabh Yadav, a prominent figure from Nawada, sparked a political firestorm on Sunday during a public address. He made personal and offensive comments targeting Tejashwi Yadav, the RJD leader and former Deputy Chief Minister, and specifically his wife. The RJD has launched protests in response. This event marked Rajballabh Yadav’s first major public appearance since his release from jail.
In his speech, Rajballabh Yadav criticized Tejashwi Yadav’s marriage, saying he talks about caste to get votes but married outside his caste. He suggested it would have been better if Tejashwi had married a woman from the Yadav community. He mocked the choice of his wife from Haryana-Punjab.
The RJD workers reacted with anger to the statements. RJD activists in Nawada staged protests against Rajballabh Yadav, including the burning of his effigy. Renu Singh, the RJD district president, condemned the comments, stating that insults against women would not be tolerated.
It is reported that Rajballabh Yadav has been having issues with the party for a while. His wife, Vibha Devi, was elected as an MLA from Nawada on an RJD ticket in 2020.
Notably, Vibha Devi appeared on a BJP platform at a rally by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Gaya, leading to speculation about her potential alignment with the ruling party.
The controversy has brought renewed political activity to Nawada. Recently, Kaushal Yadav, a former JDU MLA, joined the RJD.
Rajballabh Yadav is known for his strong ties to the Yadav community. Political analysts believe that the actions of Rajballabh Yadav and his wife are changing the political scene in Nawada. Yadav’s recent remarks make it clear that his relationship with the RJD is fractured.
