A resident of Patna, Bihar, was arrested by the Phulwari Sharif police for impersonating an IPS officer and carrying out a series of fraudulent activities. The suspect, Asrar Ahmed, was taken into custody following a raid based on a tip-off. Ahmed would deceive people by falsely claiming to hold the rank of ADG within the police force.
Ahmed further claimed that he was stationed at the police headquarters. He also interfered in land disputes, threatening individuals involved. A case has been registered against him under various serious sections of the law. Police revealed that Ahmed used mobile phones and emails as part of his fraudulent operations.
It’s believed that Ahmed swindled more than half a dozen people, including a government employee. He would intimidate and threaten his victims while posing as an ADG-rank officer to extract money from them.
The police are currently working to uncover Ahmed’s full network of operations. Following his arrest, he was remanded to judicial custody. The police are actively identifying other possible victims and conducting a comprehensive investigation into the case.
