Odisha Braces for Heavy Rains as Low-Pressure System Intensifies Monsoon Activity

A low-pressure system over the Bay of Bengal is set to bring heavy rainfall to Odisha, prompting the IMD to issue warnings across multiple districts. The districts of Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Sundargarh, and Balasore have been placed under a red alert, with the likelihood of severe thunderstorms and strong winds. Neighboring districts are also bracing for significant rainfall. The weather system, combined with an active monsoon, is expected to produce heavy to very heavy rain across the state until June 5th. The IMD's forecast includes detailed warnings extending to July 5th, specifying the districts likely to be affected and the severity of the expected weather conditions. The Director of Bhubaneswar Meteorological Centre, Manorama Mohanty, confirmed that the southwest monsoon is active over the state and heavy rainfall activity is expected to prevail all through the week.
