As part of its ongoing efforts against criminals, Bihar Police arrested Nikhil Kumar, a wanted individual from Nawada, seizing an illegal firearm in the process. A joint operation involving the Bihar STF and the Nawada district police led to the arrest in an urban area during the night of August 11th and 12th. This arrest is connected to a prior incident on July 27th, when Nikhil Kumar and his accomplices targeted the shop and residence of businessman Neeraj Prakash Lal in Hisua market, resulting in gunshot injuries to the electronics store owner. Interrogation revealed that the suspect had concealed the weapon used in the crime within the bushes near the Pahari Baba temple area under Hisua police station. During the recovery of the weapon, he initiated fire against the police team, prompting a retaliatory response from the officers. Kumar was wounded and subsequently hospitalized. A 1 cm automatic pistol, two live cartridges, and two empty shells were recovered from the arrested person. Nikhil Kumar has a history of criminal involvement, with several cases pending against him in Nawada, Arwal, and Gaya districts related to dacoity, attempted murder, and violations of the Arms Act.
