As Bihar prepares for assembly elections, RJD leader Lalu Prasad Yadav has unveiled a revamped party structure. Following his re-election as party president for the thirteenth time, Yadav announced the formation of a new National Executive Committee. Key appointments include former Chief Minister Rabri Devi as vice-president and Jagdanand Singh, the former state president, taking on a prominent role. This strategic move by the RJD supremo aims to strengthen the party before the elections.
Jagdanand Singh has been elevated to a national vice-president, alongside Mehboob Ali Kaiser and Uday Narayan Chaudhary. Shivanand Tiwari, formerly a national vice-president, is no longer part of the leadership team.
The party’s new appointments were detailed in a notification released on Saturday. Abdul Bari Siddiqui will serve as Secretary-General, and Sunil Kumar Singh will be the National Treasurer. General Secretaries include Jayaprakash Narayan Yadav, Dr. Neel Lohit Das, Bhola Yadav, Lalit Kumar Yadav, Kumar Sarvjeet, Syed Faisal Ali, Abhay Singh, Sukhdev Paswan, Sushila Murale, Anu Chako, Binu Yadav, and Renu Kushwaha.
The Secretaries appointed are Yaduvansh Kumar Yadav, Dr. Lal Ratnakar, Bharat Bhushan Mandal, Kartikey Kumar Singh, Vijay Verma, Santosh Kumar Jaiswal, Sanjay Thakur, Rajendra Ram, Sweety Seema Hembram, and Surendra Ram.
Furthermore, the presidents of various party cells have been announced. These include the National Women’s Cell, National Youth Cell, National Minority Cell, National Scheduled Castes and Tribes Cell, National Farmers’ Cell, and National Students’ Cell.
Former Union Minister Kanti Singh will lead the National Women’s Cell. The National Youth Cell will be headed by Abhay Kushwaha, the MP from Aurangabad. Mohammad Ali Ashraf Fatmi, another former Union Minister, will lead the National Minority Cell. Shivchandra Ram, a former Bihar government minister, will head the National Scheduled Castes and Tribes Cell.
Sudhakar Singh, MP from Buxar, has been appointed as the president of the National Farmers’ Cell. Professor Naval Kishore has been appointed as the president of the National Students’ Cell.
Lalu Prasad Yadav was re-elected as the party’s national president on July 5th. The announcement of the new team followed 20 days after the RJD National Executive meeting. A notable appointment is Professor Naval Kishore Yadav, a teacher, as the president of the National Students’ Cell.
