Odisha is facing a critical flood situation due to incessant heavy rain, with Balasore and Mayurbhanj bearing the brunt. The Subarnarekha River at Rajghat has exceeded the danger mark, resulting in the submersion of multiple villages and displacement of thousands. Bhograi block in Balasore is heavily affected, with over 30 villages underwater, severely disrupting daily life. The Jalaka river is also nearing danger levels. Over 2,900 individuals have been evacuated, and vast agricultural lands have been submerged. Mayurbhanj is experiencing widespread devastation, with homes flooded and residents facing hardship. Sundargarh is also dealing with disruptions. The Brahmani River is rising, increasing the danger to nearby villages.
