The Bihar government has introduced a beneficial scheme for sugarcane farmers, which includes the launch of a portal and a financial subsidy. On Tuesday, the Sugarcane Industries Department launched a portal under the Sugarcane Mechanization Scheme, enabling online applications. The government has earmarked 10 crore rupees for the scheme’s execution in the financial year 2025-26.
The scheme will contribute to lowering cultivation costs and improving sugarcane seed treatment, which will boost the income of sugarcane farmers. The use of advanced agricultural tools will assist in planting seeds with the correct spacing. Modern equipment is also vital in managing pest infestations and weeds.
Interested sugarcane farmers can submit their applications online by using their 13-digit DBT number via the departmental Cane Care portal: https://ccs.bihar.gov.in or https://sugarcanemech.bihar.gov.in. Farmers can receive subsidies for various agricultural implements, from preparing the field to harvesting the sugarcane. Subsidies are available for a maximum of three agricultural machines per farmer. The program also includes provisions for the establishment of machine banks. Selected applicants will pay the remaining balance after the subsidy to the listed vendor within 14 days of receiving their approval letter.
