On Thursday, the Odisha Vigilance team arrested Revenue Inspector (RI) Manoj Kumar Behera and Amin Bichitrananda Satpathy from Kandarpur Revenue Circle, Cuttack district, for allegedly taking a bribe of Rs 12,000. The bribe was demanded from a shop owner near the Kandarpur revenue office in exchange for a favorable report in a mutation case, facilitating the conversion of agricultural land to homestead land and the issuance of an ROR (Patta). The entire bribe amount was recovered. Further investigation includes simultaneous searches at three locations associated with Behera and two associated with Satpathy to determine if they possess assets disproportionate to their known sources of income. A case has been registered under Section 7 of the PC (Amendment) Act, 2018, and the investigation is ongoing.
