A student’s murder in Muzaffarpur, Bihar, has caused shockwaves, marked by torture and disfigurement. The body of Abhishek Kumar, a 21-year-old who vanished from Ahiaur’s Zero Mile two days prior, was recovered from the Budhi Gandak river near Motipur on Wednesday. The victim’s hands and feet were bound, and his nails were ripped out. Ahiaur police, aided by Motipur police, retrieved the body from Kodariya Ghat near Moresandi village and sent it to SKMCH for a post-mortem. Investigations suggest that the victim’s friend owed him five lakh rupees. Ahiaur police confirmed that the student’s father had reported him missing at the police station two days before the body was found. The investigation revealed that Abhishek’s hands and feet were bound behind his back with a rope, his nails were removed, and there were severe wounds on his neck. Authorities suspect the body was disposed of in the river after the murder. Ahiaur police station in-charge Rohan Kumar mentioned that acid was used to burn the victim’s face to obscure identification. Abhishek’s father, Vinod Rai, a resident of Rajepur, East Champaran, filed an FIR on Tuesday, naming 12 people, including Abhishek’s friend and his family, as suspects in the murder. Vinod Rai stated he last spoke to his son, Abhishek, on the night of June 23. When he couldn’t contact him the next day, he contacted Nitish, who revealed that Ayush had taken Abhishek to a party the previous night, and he never returned. A case was filed at the police station on June 24. Allegations indicate that Ayush had borrowed five lakh rupees from Abhishek for a hotel project. Vinod Rai claims that when he pressured Ayush for repayment, Ayush planned to murder Abhishek, taking him to a hotel, feeding him, and then, along with accomplices, brutally killing him and discarding the body in the river. The discovery of the body brought immense grief to the family. Ahiaur police reiterated that the student was missing for two days and that his father had filed a missing person report. The investigation confirmed that Abhishek’s hands and feet were bound, his nails were removed, and he had deep wounds on his neck. City DSC-2 Vineeta Sinha confirmed the brutal murder of the student. Police are investigating based on the father’s application and family statements. The police are actively trying to arrest the suspects, aiming for a swift resolution of the case.
