The Bihar government’s Su-shasan programs include the Chief Minister Rural Solar Street Light Scheme, designed to illuminate villages and promote a clean and sustainable rural environment. The scheme utilizes modern technology to facilitate environmental protection and build self-reliant communities. The centralized monitoring system, developed by BREDA, is a key aspect of the initiative. It allows for swift identification of faulty lights, increasing the effectiveness of monitoring and improving work efficiency. Agencies are obligated to repair faulty lights within 72 hours, or face daily fines. The third phase of the initiative has faced some setbacks, leading to show-cause notices being issued to 17 agencies for failing to adhere to project timelines and contractual requirements. The Panchayati Raj Department has stipulated that agencies must complete installation and maintenance within 90 days of receiving a work order. In an effort to improve public accessibility and accountability, service stations will be established, and a dedicated WhatsApp number will be provided on each pole, enabling residents to report issues directly.
