The Bihar Revenue and Land Reforms Department has issued a statement to counter reports stating that the strike by special survey contract employees, who had been dismissed, had ended after a meeting with the Chief Secretary. These reports also alleged that the Chief Secretary had agreed to consider some of their demands. The department has declared these reports to be baseless, misleading, and untrue. According to the department, the purported meeting was not an official one. The Chief Secretary was meeting with some Members of the Legislative Assembly; an individual from a union accompanied one of the MLAs. This person individually tried to raise the issue of the contract employees’ strike, but the Chief Secretary explicitly stated that the department’s decisions would be final and did not offer any personal assurances. The department has urged the public to rely solely on information from authorized and verifiable sources and to be cautious of deceptive claims.
