Prime Minister Narendra Modi has addressed the controversy stemming from an alleged incident at a Bihar rally where his late mother was targeted with abusive language. He criticized Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav for what he views as their part in the matter. According to the Prime Minister, the verbal abuse directed at his mother on an Opposition platform was deeply hurtful and an insult to all women.
Modi’s comments were made after the launch of the Bihar Rajya Jeevika Nidhi Saakh Sahkari Sangh Limited, an initiative to support women entrepreneurs in Bihar. He spoke to around 20 lakh women through a video conference, during which he shared personal recollections about his late mother, Heeraben Modi. He described her struggles to overcome poverty and her dedication to her children, highlighting her tireless efforts and the high regard for mothers in India. He emphasized that the offensive language used during the Congress-RJD rally was an affront to all women. Modi contrasted the experiences of those born into privilege with the hardships faced by underprivileged mothers and their children, implicitly criticizing those he referred to as ‘naamdars’ for failing to understand the struggles of the common people.
