Congress leader and MP Priyanka Gandhi engaged with women in Bihar, criticizing the current central and state governments. She specifically addressed the NDA government’s recent Mahila Rozgar Yojana, a program offering 10,000 rupees to women in the state, launched before the Bihar assembly elections. Gandhi questioned the significance of this financial offering.
She emphasized that women’s lives involve various struggles, and encouraged them to convert these struggles into strength, also committing that they would work to uphold the dignity of women in Bihar, promising 25 lakh rupees in insurance. Gandhi highlighted the fact that women carry the weight of the entire society.
Gandhi urged women to understand their inherent power, stating that parties recognize their importance and are offering financial incentives before the elections. She encouraged them to acknowledge their self-respect and to reject the 10,000 rupees, suggesting the Bihar government does not respect them.
She spoke of the need for a new government committed to justice and dignity. Gandhi praised Rahul Gandhi’s efforts in fighting for social justice for women across the country. She encouraged the women to consider the upcoming elections, and vote out the Nitish Kumar and BJP government, as a new government is needed for justice and respect.
The Prime Minister Narendra Modi introduced the Mukhyamantri Mahila Rozgar Yojana just before the Bihar elections, providing 10,000 rupees to 75 lakh women’s bank accounts in Bihar. This scheme cost the state 7500 crore rupees. The Congress party has accused the NDA of using this as an election tactic and undervaluing the women’s dignity by offering such a sum.
