Ahead of the Bihar assembly elections, the Mahagathbandhan has raised serious allegations against the BJP and the Election Commission, accusing them of a conspiracy to manipulate the voter list. At a press conference, the alliance expressed concerns that the BJP is attempting to disenfranchise vulnerable communities.
Tejashwi Yadav, a prominent leader of the RJD, claimed the BJP is systematically working to remove the names of the poor and marginalized from the voter rolls. He stated that the Election Commission is in the process of creating a new voter list, replacing the existing one with the names of 8 crore voters. He called this a dangerous conspiracy.
Deepankar Bhattacharya of CPI(ML) stated that the timing of the new voter list raises serious concerns and it is equivalent to the murder of the constitution. The Mahagathbandhan warned that it would launch protests if the Election Commission proceeds with this alleged manipulation.
