The political scene in Bihar is intensifying as the assembly elections approach. Disagreements over seat allocation are proving to be a major hurdle within the Mahagathbandhan. The RJD has reportedly rejected the Congress’s proposal for a seat swap based on the classification of ‘winnable’ and ‘losable’ seats. This decision has created a rift in the alliance.
The RJD’s position is further complicated by the inclusion of new political figures like Mukesh Sahani, Pashupati Paras, and Hemant Soren. The RJD is considering allocating more seats to the Left parties, given their successful track record.
This means that both the RJD and the Congress may have to contest on fewer seats than in the previous election. The Congress, which is seeking 70 seats, has been informed by the RJD that its seat count will be reduced, and it will have to choose from the remaining available seats.
