Bihar is set to witness a major infrastructural advancement with the upcoming construction of its largest power plant in Bhagalpur. The project, a 2400 MW facility in Pirpainti, will be built with an investment of Rs 21,000 crore and will span 1020 acres. This power plant will be key to strengthening Bihar’s energy security and drive economic growth.
The construction will be managed by Adani Power. The power plant will generate employment for thousands of people. The Energy Secretary has set a three-year deadline for the project. Prime Minister Narendra Modi is expected to lay the foundation stone in Purnia on September 15th.
The project site is strategically located, with easy access to the Ganga River, the historical sites of Vikramshila University and Bateshwar Sthan, as well as nearby coal mines and railway infrastructure. The power plant is located near the Pirpainti railway station.
The power plant will provide job opportunities. The Chief Secretary of the Energy Department and Managing Director reviewed the project’s progress. This power plant will be a milestone for Bihar, generating employment for the people. The DM, Dr. Naval Kishore Chaudhary, said that the project would bring big changes to the economic condition of the area and would provide large-scale employment opportunities to the local residents.
