In Banka, a husband is accused of murdering his wife with the help of another woman, subsequently burying the body in the sand. The police, upon learning about the incident, arrived at the scene with a team. The body was recovered with the help of villagers and was sent for a post-mortem. The deceased woman has been identified as Savitri Devi, aged 34.
The incident took place in Amjora village under the Anandpur police station area. The husband, along with his second wife, allegedly murdered his first wife following a family dispute on Wednesday. They then buried the body in the sand near a river and fled. The event sparked a wave of shock in the area. The second wife, Pooja Devi, has been apprehended by the police. However, the husband remains at large.
Savitri Devi’s family alleges her life became unbearable after the second wife moved in. They reported daily conflicts and physical abuse. They stated that the husband and second wife murdered Savitri and buried her body in the sand following a minor disagreement.
The deceased was facing financial hardships and worked as a laborer. She had a 14-year-old son, Brahmadev Das. When the family learned about the incident, they rushed to the scene. They were overcome with grief at the scene. Savitri’s family said that the husband neglected Savitri and abused her after Pooja Devi came into their life.
Following the news of the murder, many villagers gathered at the scene. The family of the deceased demanded strict action against the accused husband and his second wife. They asserted it was not just a murder but also a case of long-term harassment. The police have registered a complaint based on the family’s statement and are actively investigating the case. The search for the absconding accused is underway.
