Former Bihar Deputy Chief Minister and RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav had a close call on Saturday morning when a truck struck part of his convoy in Vaishali district, Bihar. The incident happened near Goraul while he was en route to Patna from a political rally in Madhepura.
The convoy had stopped for a break on the Patna-Muzaffarpur highway at 12:30 AM. Tejashwi Yadav was a few meters away having tea when a speeding truck collided with the vehicles of his security personnel. Fortunately, his personal vehicle was not hit, and he was safe.
The impact of the collision caused injuries to three security officials, who were immediately rushed to a nearby hospital. Tejashwi Yadav visited them after the accident to check on their health. The three injured officials are now stable, despite suffering serious bruising and minor fractures.
The local police arrested the truck driver at the scene and took the truck into custody. The cause of the accident is currently under investigation. While preliminary reports suggest potential factors such as speeding or driver drowsiness, a comprehensive investigation is ongoing.
This incident has again highlighted concerns about the safety of political figures during long-distance travel on Bihar’s roads, especially at night. RJD supporters took to social media, expressing their gratitude that Yadav was safe, and demanding better road safety measures and stricter traffic rule enforcement.
Party leaders have called for a thorough review of VIP security protocols, particularly during road travel and under poor visibility conditions.
Tejashwi Yadav, who is known for his busy schedule and frequent travel across Bihar, has resumed his normal activities and reassured his followers that he is unharmed.
