The Bihar government is implementing the Mukhyamantri Mahila Rozgar Yojana to advance women’s empowerment. Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has approved the scheme, which will give financial assistance to women in Bihar. The scheme will provide ₹10,000 to one woman from each family so that they can start their preferred employment. The goal of the initiative is to make women independent and increase employment options. The Chief Minister shared that the government has been working on women’s empowerment since November 2005, noting the progress made in this area. The new scheme is intended to empower women, enabling them to contribute to Bihar’s progress while strengthening their families’ financial situations. One woman from each family will receive an initial installment of ₹10,000 to start the employment of their choice. The application process will be started soon and managed by the Rural Development Department, with help from the Urban Development and Housing Department. Starting in September 2025, money will be transferred to women’s bank accounts directly. After six months of employment, an assessment will be done, and additional funds up to ₹2 lakh may be provided. Moreover, ‘Haat bazaars’ will be created all over the state to help women sell their goods.
