Six individuals were arrested after an Indian Army soldier, Kapil Singh, was assaulted at the Bhuni toll plaza in Meerut, Uttar Pradesh, on Monday. Singh, 26, was traveling with his cousin to Delhi Airport to return to Srinagar when the incident occurred. Video evidence shows toll employees attacking Singh after he was tied to a pole. The soldier’s father, Krishan Pal, is demanding strict action against those involved, explaining that his son was prevented from reaching his flight and subjected to violence after his army ID was taken. Pradeep, the jawan’s brother, stated that a group of 10 to 12 people participated in the assault, using rods. Following the incident, villagers protested, vandalizing property and blocking the road. Police officials confirmed that more arrests are expected. The Indian Army has strongly condemned the attack, and is working with Uttar Pradesh Police to bring the perpetrators to justice. The Army has also contacted NHAI and is committed to a full investigation.
