Following the tragic crash of Air India flight AI 171 in Ahmedabad, which resulted in 242 fatalities, a pilot simulation has shed new light on the possible causes. The simulation, which recreated the flight conditions, ruled out flight conditions alone as the cause. The simulation, performed as part of the investigation, focused on the possibility of dual engine failure. The simulation, conducted by Air India pilots, indicated that the final flight conditions, like landing gear being out and wing flaps pulled back, did not cause the crash. The investigation is being conducted by the Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau. The report says the broken parts of the plane show that the wing flaps and slats, which help the plane lift during takeoff, were in the right position. The pilots, who died in the crash, sent a Mayday call soon after takeoff. People who know about the investigation told that only about 15 seconds passed between the distress call and the crash.
