The Supreme Court has intervened in the investigation surrounding the Air India Flight AI171 crash from June 2025. The court has expressed concern about the selective release of the preliminary inquiry report, which has, according to some interpretations, implied pilot error as the cause of the disaster. The Union Ministry of Civil Aviation and the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) are now required to respond to a petition lodged by the Safety Matters Foundation. The petition urges for an independent, impartial, and expeditious probe into the Ahmedabad Air India crash on June 21, which resulted in 260 fatalities. Updates will be provided as more information becomes available.
