Former union minister Jaswant Singh, Prime Minister-Defense Minister Rajnath, many leaders expressed grief

New Delhi: The former Defense Minister of the country, Jaswant Singh, died today. He was 82 years old. Prime Minister Narendra Modi tweeted and gave information about it. PM Modi wrote in a tweet- ‘Jaswant Singh ji first served our country diligently through being a soldier, then active in politics. In the government of Atal Bihari Vajpayee, he held many important portfolios and left a deep imprint in the finance, defense and foreign sectors. PM Modi said that I am saddened by his demise.

Jaswant Singh was ill for a long time. In 2014, Jaswant Singh suffered a serious head injury after falling in the bathroom in the house, after which he was in a coma. Jaswant Singh was a Union Minister in NDA’s Atal Bihari Vajpayee government. In Vajpayee ji’s government, Jaswant Singh took charge of big ministries like foreign, defense and finance.

Former Defense Minister Jaswant Singh was born on 3 January 1938 in a village in Barmer district of Rajasthan. He also served in the army in early life. Jaswant remained in the Indian Army from 1957 to 1966. After this, he entered politics. However, he did not have much success in the beginning. He was elected to the Rajya Sabha in the 80s.

President Kovind expressed grief

President Ramnath Kovind also tweeted expressing grief over the death of Jaswant Singh – Veteran soldier, outstanding MP, extraordinary leader and intellectual Mr. Jaswant Singh’s death is worrying. He combined many difficult roles with ease and equality. My heartfelt condolences to his family and friends.

Home Minister Amit Shah has also mourned the death of Jaswant Singh. He tweeted and said – The death of Jaswant Singhji, a senior politician of the country and a minister in Atal ji’s cabinet, is sad and an irreparable loss for the country. While in various positions in government and organization, he has left a deep impression on his duty. I express my condolences to his family. ॐ Peace.
