DMRC ready to restore metro services, awaiting government approval

New Delhi . The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) said on Tuesday that it is ready to resume its services, just waiting to get the green signal from the government.
Metro services were suspended from 22 March to prevent the spread of Kovid-19. After that it has made complete preparations for re-services by implementing all the security measures but the Center has not yet given permission to resume its services. However, in ‘Unlock 4.0’ the metro is likely to resume in a phased manner and with wider restrictions.
Recently, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal had cited improvement in the condition of coronaviruses in the national capital, saying that metro services should be resumed in a phased manner as an experiment.
A top DMRC official told IANS, “All arrangements have been made. Since the metro stations are closed for a long time, we need only two days to sanitize the stations.”
He said that a batch of trains is stuck in the hub depot and there will be a need to remove dust from them and clean the stations. These work will be done in two days.
DMRC said, “In addition to logistics planning to tackle the spread of the virus, measures such as social distancing, ground marketing will also be taken as a precaution. Whether or not the frequency of trains will be increased will depend on the government guidelines. . “
Recently, DMRC managing director Mangu Singh inspected the Rajiv Chowk metro station to examine the operations of Operational Systems and Maintenance, predicting that the Metro services would resume soon.
