A news website recently published a report indicating that a grand-scale sequel to ‘Tumbbad’ is in development. The budget for the film has been increased to 150 crore rupees. The budget for the first part was 15 crore. The makers faced several challenges during the first film’s production.
The film, released in 2018, failed at the box office. However, it was re-released on September 13, 2024. The film was brought back to theaters after six years and set a record. It became the highest-grossing re-release since 2000.
Upon re-release, the film earned 7.34 crore rupees in its opening weekend. The film had initially made a total of 13.48 crore rupees, which was surpassed upon its re-release. Furthermore, it went on to earn over 24.45 crore rupees within 10 days of its re-release.
Both releases have collectively generated over 50 crore rupees worldwide. Currently, work is underway on the film’s story. The shooting is scheduled to take place next year. Although an official release date has not yet been announced, the budget has increased.
