The story of Raveena Tandon’s entry into the world of Bollywood is inextricably linked to her first meeting with Salman Khan. Salman Khan initiated his career in the late 1980s, while Raveena’s career in Bollywood started in the 1990s. Their professional relationship began with a key moment, influencing the trajectory of Raveena’s career.
Raveena Tandon, whose father Ravi Tandon was a well-known filmmaker, didn’t initially plan to become a Bollywood actress. Before pursuing acting, she interned with ad film director Prahlad Kakkar and worked on various modeling projects. During this period, Salman Khan offered her a film role.
Raveena, in a personal interview, spoke about her first meeting with Salman Khan. She was interning, and Salman had already gained stardom after the success of ‘Maine Pyar Kiya’ (1989). The meeting happened after Salman’s debut.
Raveena explained that she would step in as a model on shoots when necessary, wearing the costumes. During a shoot in Bandra, her friend Bunty, also a friend of Salman, reached out, suggesting they meet. Raveena met Bunty, where Salman was present. Salman was in the process of finding an actress for his film ‘Patthar Ke Phool’.
During their meeting, Salman chose Raveena for the film. This encounter led to her debut in Bollywood. The film was released in 1991. Afterwards, Raveena went on to establish a successful career. Salman and Raveena also worked together in films like ‘Andaz Apna Apna’ (1994) and ‘Kehi Pyaar Na Ho Jaaye’ (2000).
