The trailer of ‘Sardaar Ji 3’ has triggered considerable criticism on the internet due to the inclusion of Pakistani actress Hania Aamir. Diljit Dosanjh announced the movie’s overseas release via Instagram. This negative reaction follows the heightened tensions between India and Pakistan, which have been intensified by the Pahalgam attack and Operation Sindoor.
Netizens have strongly criticized Diljit and the film’s producers for casting Hania Aamir and for deciding to release the film despite the current political climate. One Reddit user commented, “Never spoke a word during the war…now we know why…I liked him but the opinion is now changing highly.” Another netizen said, “You can’t expect anything better from Diljit. He has always been very clear about his ideologies.” One Reddit user wrote, “Disgusted by him. What a shameless person he is.”
Notably, ‘Sardaar Ji 3’ was reportedly filmed before the Pahalgam attack. The film is not scheduled for release in India and is intended for overseas distribution.
Hania Aamir previously dealt with controversy when a fabricated post, falsely attributing comments to her regarding the Pahalgam attack, went viral on social media. She promptly issued a clarification, stating, “Recently, a statement has been falsely attributed to me and is being widely circulated on social media. I want to address this directly: I did not make this statement, and I do not endorse or align with the words being linked to me. It is entirely fabricated and misrepresents who I am and what I believe.”
She added, “That being said, this is a deeply sensitive and emotional time. My heart goes out to the innocent lives lost and the families affected by the recent tragedy. Pain like this is real, and it deserves empathy, not politicisation. In times like these, it’s easy to let emotions cloud our judgment, but we must remember: the actions of extremists do not represent an entire nation or its people. Assigning blame without proof only deepens divides and distracts from the real need for compassion, justice, and healing.”
The film also stars Sonam Bajwa, alongside Manav Vij, Gulshan Grover, Jasmin Bajwa, and Sapna Pabbi.
