The Punjabi entertainment community is mourning the loss of talented actor and singer Rajvir Jawanda, who passed away on Wednesday. He had been critically injured in a road accident on September 27th and spent eleven days on life support at Fortis Hospital in Mohali.
International artist Diljit Dosanjh, presently in Australia for his ‘Aura Tour 2025,’ honored Rajvir Jawanda’s memory through his Instagram stories. Dosanjh shared a photograph of Jawanda at the sacred Golden Temple, accompanied by the spiritual Punjabi word ‘Waheguru.’ He had previously asked his followers to pray for Jawanda when he was admitted to the hospital.
The accident occurred when Jawanda, riding his motorcycle on the Pinjore-Nalagarh Road, encountered a bull that suddenly entered his lane. This led to him losing control of his bike and falling, resulting in severe head and spinal injuries. He remained in a critical state until his unfortunate demise.
Rajvir Jawanda’s career began with his 2014 album ‘Munda Like Me,’ gaining wider acclaim after his 2016 release ‘Kali Jawanda Di.’ He continued to deliver popular music with hits like ‘Muqabla,’ ‘Kangana,’ ‘Patiala Shahi Pag,’ and ‘Landlord.’ His foray into acting saw him feature in ‘Subedar Joginder Singh’ in 2018, followed by roles in ‘Jind Jaan,’ ‘Mindo Tehsildarni,’ and ‘Sikandar 2.’
Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann expressed his condolences, stating that the loss of Jawanda’s voice, which had endeared him to many, would be deeply felt. He wished peace for the departed soul and strength for his family and fans.
