The South Indian film industry continues its strong presence in 2025. Several South Indian movies have been released this year and have amassed impressive earnings, astonishing audiences worldwide. ‘Lokah Chapter 1,’ directed by Kalyani Priyadarshan, daughter of director Priyadarshan, is the most recent film to add to this success. The movie has been in cinemas for 15 days and has performed exceptionally, dominating the box office. Let’s analyze the earnings of ‘Lokah Chapter 1’ over the last two weeks, comparing it to the performance of ‘Dil Madrasi.’
The budget for ‘Lokah’ is reported to be around 30 crore rupees. However, the movie’s earnings worldwide have surpassed this figure significantly. In India, the film has earned over 100 crore rupees, and globally, it has made more than 200 crore rupees. The gross collection in India is 114.35 crore rupees, with the overseas collection at 96.15 crore rupees. ‘Lokah’s’ worldwide collection has reached 210.50 crore rupees. On its 15th day, the film earned 3.85 crore rupees, totaling 214.35 crore rupees.
‘Dil Madrasi,’ with a budget of about 200 crore rupees, has not even earned 100 crore rupees within its first week. The film is not attracting a sufficient audience.
The gross collection for ‘Dil Midrasi’ is 55.25 crore rupees. Including the 7th-day collection, the film has earned 57.25 crore rupees. The overseas collection is 22 crore rupees, giving the film a worldwide collection of roughly 78 crore rupees. This is not a remarkable figure. It is a long way from recovering its budget. With new movies recently released at the box office, it is challenging for ‘Madrasi’ to earn its investment back.
