A legal challenge has been filed against the forthcoming Ranveer Singh starrer ‘Dhurandhar,’ an espionage thriller directed by Aditya Dhar. The parents of the late Major Mohit Sharma have petitioned the Delhi High Court, seeking to prevent the film’s certification and release.
The core of their petition revolves around the film’s alleged unauthorized portrayal of real individuals. The High Court has acknowledged these concerns and instructed the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) to conduct a thorough review before granting clearance.
The court’s directive explicitly asks the CBFC to consider all the points raised by the petitioners. It was also suggested that if the film delves into army matters, relevant military bodies should be consulted to provide their input to the CBFC. This ensures a comprehensive and sensitive evaluation.
Legal representatives for the family highlighted that the film’s teaser prominently features a character believed to be based on the late Major Mohit Sharma. They argue that this, along with potentially other characters, necessitates a careful examination to ensure no real individuals are misrepresented or exploited without consent.
‘Dhurandhar’ is a spy-action film co-produced by Jio Studios and B62 Studios. The movie features an impressive ensemble cast, with Ranveer Singh leading alongside Sanjay Dutt, Akshaye Khanna, R. Madhavan, and Arjun Rampal.
