Malayalam cinema introduces ‘Lokah: Chapter 1 Chandra,’ a superhero film exploring the journey of a young woman who acquires mystical abilities and utilizes them to combat evil. The movie has garnered positive audience feedback, achieving notable financial success during its opening week.
‘Lokah Chapter 1: Chandra’ maintained a consistent performance at the box office in its first week. The film began its run with ₹2.7 crore on Day 1 (Thursday) and showed considerable progress over the weekend, collecting ₹4 crore on Day 2 (Friday), ₹7.6 crore on Day 3 (Saturday), and reaching a peak of ₹10.1 crore on Day 4 (Sunday).
As expected, the numbers slightly decreased on weekdays, with ₹7.2 crore on Day 5 (Monday). However, the film saw a resurgence with ₹7.65 crore on Day 6 (Tuesday) before dropping to approximately ₹6.75 crore on Day 7 (Wednesday, early estimates). In its first week, ‘Lokah Chapter 1: Chandra’ has earned a total of ₹46 crore, demonstrating a strong performance across the Malayalam, Tamil, and Telugu markets.
Blending Indian folklore, contemporary sci-fi, and horror, ‘Lokah Chapter 1’ marks the beginning of the Wayfarer Cinematic Universe (WCU). The cast includes Kalyani Priyadarshan, Naslen, Sandy, along with Arun Kurian, Chandu Salimkumar, Nishanth Sagar, Raghunath Paleri, Vijayaraghavan, Nithya Shri, and Sarath Sabha.
The official streaming partner for the film remains undisclosed. There are reports that ‘Lokah Chapter 1: Chandra’ will be available on Netflix following its theatrical run. Previous productions by Dulquer Salmaan, namely ‘Kurup’ and ‘Maniyarayile Ashokan,’ have also been released on Netflix.
