The film ‘Maa’, featuring Kajol, will be available on the OTT platform Netflix following its theatrical release. The film received positive reviews from audiences, who appreciated its innovative take on the supernatural horror genre and praised Kajol’s strong acting.
The release date for ‘Maa’ on Netflix is set for August 22, 2025.
Netflix’s announcement for the OTT release read, “When the protector is a mother, every predator will fall. Watch Maa, out 22 August, on Netflix.”
In a conversation, Kajol talked about ‘Maa’ and the possibility of turning the film into a franchise. She noted, “Maa is the kind of film that will compel you to sit at the edge of your seat because it will make you feel, and make you stand up with her (the lead protagonist) to win her fight; that’s one element we have truly achieved.”
During an interview, Kajol shared insights on her VFX experience. She stated, “The green screen doesn’t give you the space to improvise anything. You really have no choice in the matter. You have to look in a particular way, raise your hand in a particular way, your body language has to be a certain way. If you get a little leeway, you can improvise to a certain extent, but not much. It’s a very different way of working and performing altogether. It took a little while getting used to. Wrapping your head around it takes one or two days. And you need to have complete faith in your director. He needs to know what you’re doing because you definitely don’t.”
The movie features Ronit Roy, Indraneil Sengupta, and Kherin Sharma in key roles.
